COSCON Selects CargoSmart’s Carrier IT Solutions
CargoSmart’s data as a service enables COSCON to enhance customer service and carrier operations

January 26, 2016 — CargoSmart Limited, a global shipment management software solutions provider that leverages big data for greater visibility and benchmarking, today announced that COSCO Container Lines Co. Ltd. (COSCON) has started to implement CargoSmart’s online customer service and ocean carrier analytics solutions. The customer service solutions provide COSCON with process-oriented documentation and visibility tools for its customers to manage their shipments online. The carrier operations solutions help COSCON to optimize their vessel operations. Using predictive analytics, COSCON leverages CargoSmart’s global vessel and route data to improve planning, marine operations, and cost savings.

Increased visibility to vessel operation exceptions and potential disruptions enables COSCON to respond faster and save costs. At the same time, COSCON will provide a leading visibility platform to its customers so that they can manage shipments more efficiently and improve communications with their customers throughout the shipment cycle. “CargoSmart is delivering data, services, and insights that help strengthen our growing operations and elevate our customer service,” said Chen Xiang, deputy managing director of COSCON.

COSCON will be using CargoSmart’s private label solution for ocean carriers for its public website. The enhanced website will allow COSCON’s customers to streamline their shipment management processes throughout the full shipment cycle. The new features include an integrated process flow for online booking requests and shipping instructions, cargo tracking, exception management, reports, document sharing, and customer support chat.

COSCON is subscribing to carrier operations solutions that leverage CargoSmart’s Global Vessel Voyage Monitoring Center (GVVMC). CargoSmart monitors a complex interplay of sea traffic metrics, covering 90% of the world’s ocean container traffic, to deliver unprecedented insights for COSCON to make better decisions. In addition, CargoSmart uses complex event processing and advanced analytics technologies to process immense data sets and provide timely alerts to COSCON.
