Government agencies are increasingly adding regulations to improve international trade security and automate filing procedures. To comply with new regulations and avoid penalties and cargo delays, companies are improving their shipment visibility throughout their global supply chains and developing new procedures to collect, consolidate, and transmit shipment information.
CargoSmart offers two new solutions to help shippers, consignees, and logistics service providers comply with U.S. regulations and manage the flow of shipment information to keep their cargo moving and delivered on time:
EEI Solution: Beginning on October 1, 2008, U.S. exporters must file Electronic Export Information (EEIs) to the U.S. Census Bureau's Automated Export System (AES). CargoSmart's solution offers streamlined online filing that is integrated with other export functions, including booking and shipping instructions, and allows customers to monitor the entire process to ensure that their filings and documentation are processed in a timely manner. CargoSmart enables customers to conduct shipment management through a single platform, improve visibility with advanced monitoring of the filing process and status, and achieve significant time savings.
ISF Solution: In January 2009, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) launched the Importer Security Filing (ISF), or '10+2', regulation that requires U.S. importers to file multiple data elements at least 24 hours prior to vessel loading at the foreign port. CargoSmart's Importer Security Filing solution provides an online platform for importers to streamline the collection of the required data elements from all parties and to self-file or share the data with their filing agent. It also helps logistics service providers manage the data collection process and submit the filings on their clients' behalf, allowing them to expand their scope of services. Advanced visibility tools automatically alert customers to data collection and filing status exceptions so that they can focus on shipments that need the most attention and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
