EDI and XML Integration Implementation Guides
Integration
If you have a high shipment volume, you may want to transmit data by direct integration to save time copying and re-keying information into your system. CargoSmart supports Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), XML, Web services, and proprietary formats for direct integration. CargoSmart also provides a dedicated project team to help customers integrate CargoSmart with their internal applications.
EDI
CargoSmart provides integration services if you would like to manage your shipment data with multiple carriers using EDI. You only need to integrate once with CargoSmart. CargoSmart integrates with multiple carriers and saves you time by minimizing the number of connections and message sets you need to manage.
  • CargoSmart supports all industry standard messages in ANSI X.12 and EDIFACT formats
  • Automatic system monitoring ensures message integrity and that your data format requirements are met
  • Experienced Client Services and Professional Services teams support your implementation each step of the way
XML
CargoSmart also provides integration services if you would like to manage your shipment data with multiple carriers using XML. You can integrate once with CargoSmart and through this single connection, receive shipment information from all your carriers, saving you time by minimizing the number of connections and message sets you need to manage.
  • XML is easier and less expensive to customize and support than EDI
  • Data format can be applied across multiple programs and systems
APIs
CargoSmart offers below API integrations to help you manage multiple-carrier sailing schedule, vessel schedule and cargo tracking information through your own system's application. API integration allows you to receive data only when you request it so that you do not need to store all data. It saves time and money processing and storing multiple-carrier sailing schedule and cargo tracking data.
  • Sailing Schedule API – It returns multiple carriers point to point schedules by given origin and destination information.
  • Vessel Schedule API – It returns a list of ports with ETD, ETA individually by a given vessel and a carrier information.
  • Vessel Track on a Map API – It shows the recent vessel locations on the map plus the corresponding vessel schedule by a given vessel and a carrier information.
  • Cargo Tracking API – It returns a list of events of the container(s) by a given booking number, or bill of lading number or container number.
Flat File
If you do not have a formal EDI/XML system in place, you can still submit and receive multiple carrier shipment information in flat file format. You can set up programs to extract data from your systems and then e-mail the data in a flat file format to CargoSmart. This saves time from having to re-key information and you do not require expensive systems to automate your shipping process through more complex integration methods.
