Bill of Lading Actions Available - CargoSmart Help

CargoSmart has a set of predefined rules that governs what actions are available to the user depending on the type of bill of lading document AND the current status of the document. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please make sure you have loaded your default printer with sufficient quantity of the Bill of Lading stationery supplied by the carrier. You must use the Print icon in the Adobe Acrobat Reader to print the bill of lading document.

Rules for Draft Bill of Lading

  • Only users who have Draft Bill of Lading privilege checked in their User Profile will be able to perform actions.
  • You can click the View action to view the B/L document. You can perform this action more than once and at any given time after the document is uploaded.
  • You can only perform the Accept action once per version.
  • Actions may be performed within 20 days from the date the document was received from the carrier. The document will be removed from the list afterwards.
  • For Change Requested documents
    • The Accept action is removed from the list.
    • You may perform more than one Request Change on the document. You are reminded by doing so, you must allow sufficient time (recommended at least 24 hours) for the carrier to capture your last change request. CargoSmart will display a new version of the B/L document received from the carrier. You are advised to view the new B/L first to verify that all changes have been captured.
  • For Accepted documents
    • The Accept action is removed from the list.
  • For Withdrawn documents
    • All actions are removed until a new version is received from the carrier.

Rules for Original Bill of Lading

  • Only users who have the Original Bill of Lading privilege checked in their User Profile will be able to perform actions.
  • You can click the View action to view the B/L document. You can perform this action more than once and at any given time after the document is uploaded.
  • You can click the Print action to print the B/L document. Subject to the user's agreement with the carrier, You can print one set of the document.
  • You can only perform the Request Reprint action once.
  • Actions may be performed within 20 days from the date the document was received from the carrier. The document will be removed from the list afterwards.
  • For Change Requested documents
    • The Print and Request Reprint actions are not available from the list.
    • You may perform more than one Request Change on the document. You are reminded by doing so, you must allow sufficient time (recommended at least 24 hours) for the carrier to capture your last change request. CargoSmart will display a new version of the B/L document received from the carrier. You are advised to view the new B/L first to verify that all changes have been captured before you print.
  • For Printed documents
    • All users who have the Original Bill of Lading privilege checked are allowed to Print the existing or subsequent versions, if available.
  • For Withdrawn documents
    • All actions are removed until a new version is received from the carrier.

Rules for Sea Waybill (Limited Regions)

  • Only users who have the Sea Waybill privilege checked in their User Profile will be able to perform actions.
  • You can click the View action to view the B/L document. You can perform this action more than once and at any given time after the document is uploaded.
  • You can click the Print  action to print the B/L document, subject to the user's agreement with the carrier. You can only print one set of documents.
  • You can only perform the  Request Reprint action once per version.

  • You can only perform the  Request Additional Prints action to request additional prints from the carrier for the same document type and version. You can perform this action more than once and at any given time after the document is uploaded.
