What is CargoSmart?
CargoSmart Limited is a global logistics Software as a Service (SaaS) solution provider, with advanced visibility and exception management, enabling shippers, consignees, and logistics service providers to keep cargo moving and delivered on time. Through online tools and integration services, CargoSmart enables customers to plan, process, and monitor the critical path of shipments and communicate in-depth, timely information to key supply chain associates. CargoSmart's products help customers lower transportation management costs, streamline operations, and reduce the risk of late shipments.

How many carriers have connected to CargoSmart?
CargoSmart has connected to 17 ocean carriers, including 70% of the top 20 by total TEU capacity, to help shippers, consignees, and logistics service providers gain efficiencies, reduce costs, and streamline communication while managing their shipments. Member carriers include COSCON, MISC, NYK, and OOCL. CargoSmart has connected to 13 other carriers for customers who have requested the integrations to access their shipment data. Customers may request their other carriers' to connect to CargoSmart to automate their shipment management processes.

What are the benefits of a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution?
CargoSmart offers advanced visibility and collaboration solutions to customers as a Software as a Service (SaaS). SaaS solutions are on-demand services that customers pay for on a subscription-basis. Using SaaS solutions to manage the shipment process allows customers to save money on hardware, data storage, and software maintenance. CargoSmart complements and extends customers' existing global trade management (GTM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

What is the difference between Company Membership and Individual Membership?
CargoSmart offers two levels of membership to customers: Company and Individual.

Company Membership allows customers to access CargoSmart's full suite of standard services and the option to subscribe to advanced features to manage their multiple-carrier shipments and processes. Company Members must be a party on their ocean carrier's bill of lading.

Individual Membership allows customers to access only Sailing Schedule, Cargo Tracking, Vessel Tracking, and Rail Tracing features. Individual Members can request to upgrade to Company Membership at any time.

How much does the CargoSmart service cost?
CargoSmart’s standard services are free for shippers, consignees, and logistics service providers. CargoSmart’s advanced functions are available on a subscription-basis. In addition, CargoSmart members may access member ocean carriers’ data at no charge. To manage other carriers’ data through CargoSmart, customers pay U.S.$2 per shipment. Do I need to have credit with my carriers to apply for a CargoSmart account?
You do not need to have an established credit line with your carriers to be approved for a CargoSmart account.

Is CargoSmart easy to use?
Yes. CargoSmart is a customer-driven solution designed to be user-friendly and intuitive.

Is CargoSmart a secure service?
Yes. CargoSmart makes it a priority to safeguard all customer information. At the system administration level, a third-party vendor hosts CargoSmart's system and data. The system uses server authentication and data encryption to protect data transmission. At the customer level, company administrators control who may access their company's shipment information and how much of the information they can access. Additionally, each user's session is protected by a unique id and password. For more information, please read our Privacy Statement and Security Statement.

Technical Questions
What are the minimum system requirements?
CargoSmart products run on several platforms to cater to the different needs of our customers. Each platform has its own minimum software requirements:

Screen resolution Optimized for 1024x768 resolution (preferred), but will function at lower or higher resolutions

Other Browsers Other browsers may work in most cases. If you use other browsers, CargoSmart will not guarantee the proper functionality of CargoSmart Center applications.

Why can't I log in even after registering for CargoSmart?
Upon completion of your Company Membership registration request form, CargoSmart will review your registration request. After an internal validation and authorization process, we will send you a user ID and password by e-mail for your company to begin using our application.

Upon successful completion of an Individual Membership registration request, CargoSmart will send you a user ID and password by e-mail. You will be able to sign in and access Cargo Tracking, Rail Tracing, Sailing Schedule, and Vessel Tracking immediately.

How do I avoid "page expiration" errors?
If there is no activity within the application for more than an hour, the system will time out. If this error occurs, please try signing in to CargoSmart again. If the problem persists, please contact Technical Support.

Why am I not receiving e-mail notifications for shipment milestones or for any valid events?
In this case, your e-mail address may be incorrect in our records, the event may have not yet occurred in our internal system, or you did not select to receive the e-mail notification. Check your profile to see if your e-mail address is correct and also check your settings under your User Profile to confirm that the correct e-mail notification is enabled. If the problem persists, please contact Technical Support.

Why did I not receive a password when I added a new user to my account?
Each user will be issued their own user ID and unique password to gain access to CargoSmart. For security reasons, the company administrator and other users cannot view the password for that particular user.

Why is CargoSmart not showing a particular shipment in Cargo Tracking or Shipment Detail?
Please check with your carrier to ensure that the shipment data is correct. After confirmation from your carrier that the information is correct, please contact Technical Support.

Why doesn't a hyperlink work?
Try refreshing the page (by hitting F5) to see if that resolves the problem. If not, please refer to the system requirements mentioned above. If you are still experiencing this problem, please contact Technical Support.

Why doesn't the page fully load?
Please contact your local network administrator to verify that your network settings are properly configured. If the problem persists please contact Technical Support.

Why do I receive a JSP error?
There are many reasons as to why you may receive a JSP error such as your system configuration, connection problems, or the CargoSmart Web server could be experiencing problems. Try clearing your browser cache to see if it resolves the error. If you continue to receive a JSP error, please contact Technical Support.
How do I clear the browser cache file and delete cookies?

For Internet Explorer 6.0
  1. Click Tools on the menu bar
  2. Click Internet Options
  3. On the General tab, click Delete Files
  4. Check Delete all offline content and then click OK
  5. Click Delete Cookies and then click OK
  6. Close all browser windows after these steps and then re-open Internet Explorer
For Internet Explorer 7.0
  1. Click Tools on the menu bar
  2. Click Internet Options
  3. On the General tab under Browsing History, click Delete
  4. Next to Temporary Internet Files, click Delete files and then click Yes
  5. Next to Cookies, click Delete Cookies and then click Yes
  6. Click Close and on the Internet Options window click OK
  7. Close all browser windows after these steps and then re-open Internet Explorer
For Firefox 2.0
  1. Click Tools on the menu bar
  2. Click Clear Private Data
  3. Check Cache, Cookies, and Authenticated Sessions
  4. Click Clear Private Data Now
  5. Close all browser windows after these steps and then re-open Firefox
For Firefox 3.0
  1. Click Tools on the menu bar
  2. Click Clear Private Data
  3. Check Cache, Cookies, Offline Website Data, and Authenticated Sessions
  4. Click Clear Private Data Now
  5. Close all browser windows after these steps and then re-open Firefox
